Well. What a weekend. We played two shows – probably a little more than we should have taken on, given the workload and logistics of two dates in two days, but I think we’re all pleased we did.
With our shiny new tour bus loaded, we headed to Southampton on Saturday evening to unleash our energetic romp through the 1990s and 2000s at The Hop Inn, reminding people of some of those classics they always know they’ve known but needed a prompt, like Third Eye Blind’s Semi-Charmed Life and 1985 by Bowling For Soup, mixed in with some proper indie classics such as Green Day’s Basket Case and Razorlight’s Golden Touch.
On Sunday afternoon we descended on The Admiral Drake in Portsmouth for our second stint of the weekend, to hammer through a set that also included some Feeder, some Franz Ferdinand and a little Blink 182 for good measure.
Crowds at both venues were just awesome, they really made both shows great fun to play. Pretty sure in both instances we managed to tap into the sweet spot between nostalgia and noise – thank you to all at both venues for making us feel so welcome.
We’re delighted to be able to reveal we’ll be back at The Admiral Drake in the run up to Christmas on Friday December 16th – we’ll have to make sure we dust off our best Pogues before we take to the stage on that occasion.
We’re also hoping to go back to the Hop Inn as soon as they’ll have us back. Just don’t ask us to ‘walk 500 miles’ again..!
In the meantime, we’re looking ahead to the rest of our summer programme; at The Fareham Pub on Friday July 1st and at The Regents in Southampton on Saturday August 27th. Stay in touch with us on Instagram, Facebook & Twitter and we hope to see you soon.
